Collections Warriors Coalition Day
Monday, April 8, 2019
Location: Evansville African American Museum- Evansville, IN
2019 marks the first year of the Collections Warriors Coalition event, a volunteer based event in which collections professionals combine forces to assist a member's institution on collections related project for one day.
Juror Ashley Bouknight, Curator at The Hermitage in Nashville, Tennessee selected the Evansville African American Museum as the 2019 beneficiary. On April 8, 2019, 11 people assisted with the inventory of the museum's collections on exhibit and reorganization of collections storage. The result was incredible. A generous donation of archival supplies from Hollinger Metal Edge allowed us to properly house and rehouse objects. Over 150 objects were inventoried. Collections care techniques were also swapped as a result.
"The jewels of our collection will no longer be shrouded in mystery or confusion. We now have some organization to not only the appearance of our collection, but now we can begin to categorize the artifacts we collect."
